The Lies We Tell

“The worst lies are the lies we tell ourselves. We live in denial of what we do, even what we think. We do this because we're afraid. We fear we will not find love, and when we find it, we fear we'll lose it. We fear that if we don't have love we will be unhappy.” Those were the words of Richard Bach.

It’s becoming a world full of lies and deceit, where infidelity boomerangs to ruin the true nature of man-love. 

When the secrets of our lives are revealed eventually, our lives become twisted and the end seems unending. Perhaps, there seems to be no way out. 

There is always an aftermath of the lies we tell that plague our lives. Just as it is said, the evil you do, remains with you! The good you do, comes back to you!

It might seem small or harmless or a 'white lie', but by the time it will be let known in the open, it will matter a lot; even worse, that you kept up the truth. The lies we tell may seem like the easy thing to do but it paves the road to more difficulty because with each lie, another lie must follow.

Even though Janet Bandun tried to be secretive about where she was headed the day she left home telling her mother she was going to see her girlfriend. She never knew she was in for an unexpected surprising end, especially now that her where about is unknown. 

Janet Bandu had presumed she would enjoy the weekend in a lake area in Ada, Ghana; with her boyfriend, the hip-life artiste Theophilus Tagoe, only for her parents to hear that she is nowhere to be found. 

The family of Janet Bandu, the lady who allegedly got drowned with Tagoe - known in the entertainment industry as Castro (the Destroyer) - has been trying to clear the air that she is not  a water spirit - known in the local parlance as 'Maame Water'.

Speaking with Modern Ghana, her mother, Madam Lariba said, Janet had left home that morning that she was going to buy something from town but she has since not returned.

Madam Lariba said when she called her on her phone and asked her whereabouts, she said she was with her friends and would return home soon. But she never returned.

After the mysterious disappearance of the hip-life artiste and his lady friend, they are yet to be found after several patrols on the Volta River and the Atlantic Ocean by search teams, including the Eastern Command Marine Police. 

Search was expected to be extended to the western area of the coast such as Ningo, Prampram, Ahwiam and if possible, Togo. 

Some family members of the two missing persons especially of Janet Bandu are said to have stepped up their calls for the investigation in recent days to ascertain the truth of the whole incident.

Castro also known as Theophilus Tagoe and Janet Bandu are believed to have drowned on the Ada waters during a Jet Ski ride on July 6.

Severally, people have lied just to cover up something but they end up covering up for most of their lives but, it is important to note that, at the end, what we have is who we really are. Be truthful. One lie, two lies, and soon you might be tumbling down the rabbit hole. 

The harmless white lies can boomerang, especially when we tell them to people who are inquisitive. Indeed, truth is golden.
