FIFA RANKING: Eagles Drop Again

The Super Eagles are now ranked 42nd in the world, no thanks to their poor run in the race to
a Morocco 2015 where they won just one game in four matches under Coach Stephen Keshi who has
since been shown the exit door.
In the latest FIFA / Coca-cola ranking released Thursday, the Eagles dropped five places , crashing out
of the world’s top 40.
Consequently, the African Champions have slipped to the 9th position in Africa behind Algeria, Cote
d’Ivoire, Tunisia, Ghana, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Egypt and Senegal.
At the last ranking in September, the Eagles were 37th on the ranking table, and their fall in the latest
FIFA release is a direct fall out of their failure to beat Congo and South Africa as well as the away flop
to Sudan.
Algeria still retained her  place as the best African team and 15th position in the world with 989 points
while Cote d’Ivoire are second in Africa and ranked 25th in the world.
World Champions, Germany held on to the top spot despite a difficult start to their UEFA Euro 2016
qualification campaign. Argentina and Colombia are in second and third place respectively. Portugal
now 9th, are making their first appearance in the top ten since July and Belgium (4th,)  have
leapfrogged 5th placed Netherlands to achieve their highest ranking yet.
Meanwhile former table-toppers Spain have slipped down as far as tenth position on the log following
their defeat to Slovakia.
