LOVELY: Barcelona’s Luis Suarez Sends 500 Christmas Baskets To Children In Uruguayan Hospital
The forward donated the packages to the Pereira Rossell hospital in Montevideo as part of his ambassadorial role at Uruguayan foundation ‘Scremini Pérez’, a children’s cancer charity.
The baskets include food, drinks and gifts with the accompanying message:
“Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2015 with your loved ones. Luis Suarez and family.”
Suarez has developed a poor reputation following his antics in England and at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, which saw him bite the shoulder of Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini and was handed a four-month ban.
However, Suarez is still revered in his native country, due in large part to his charitable donations and community services, such as this particular instance.
Suarez will return to Barcelona training on January 5th, where the club will hold a training session open to the fans.
