Djs Black Chiney and Senior Brand Manager Heineken Nigeria, Ngozi Nkwoji
Four-time Grammy award winning DJs, Black Chiney, made up of four Chinese-Jamaicans - DJ English Fire, Bobby Chin, Willy Chin and Walshy Killa, have revealed they would like to work with Nigeria's music star, Wizkid.
The DJs, who were in Nigeria over the weekend for the Heineken Green Light party held at Club Quilox on Sunday, April 5, also expressed their admiration for singer, Yemi Alade.
Speaking to journalists in Lagos, DJ English Fire and Bobby Chin described Nigeria's genre of music, Afro pop, as the next big thing in the music world, noting that Nigeria had a pool of talented musician s.
Asked which Nigerian artiste they would love to work with, the DJs said, "All of them. The Nigerian musicians are so talented. You guys have a really huge pool of talented artistes. Wizkid is number one on my checklist. I need to work with Wizkid immediately. Wizkid first because there are a couple of ideas that fit him."
The two also declared that Yemi Alade's Jonny is their favourite song of the moment.
"We know a lot of Nigerian music," Bobby Chin said. "My favourite Nigerian song is 'I'm looking for my Jonny ,' Yemi Alade; I like the singer too. I saw her video and I was looking for her when I landed. Afro pop is the number one genre of music right now and I think Wizkid is amazing. Timaya is amazing, Psquare, there are so many."
Asked why the rest of the group were not with them in Nigeria, DJ English Fire said, "Because I am the most important. We play in different places in one night, like four or five different countries, but I'm the front man of Black Chiney".
The party had in attendance Sound Sultan, Uti Nwachukwu, Banky W, DJ Jimmy Jatt, IK Ogbonna, Ill Rymz and JJC Skillz.
While commenting on the show, Senior Brand manager, Heineken Nigeria, Ngozi Nwozi, said "Tonight has been nothing short of the unforgettable experience we promised and the performance of both Black Chiney and Snoop Da Damaja was out of this world."
Other notable guests present include Nigeria's rep at the 2013 Big Brother Africa, Melvin Oduah, Phyno, Sexy Steel and many others. The 2014 edition of the party had three international DJs, Benny D, Babey Drew and Tim Westwood. More photos below...
