Akwa Ibom was created on September 23rd 1987. Activities to mark the day this year include; planting of 'Seed of Greatness' by the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, Cultural Carnival float from the 3 Senatorial districts of the state, to terminate at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, where they will be received by the Governor, His Excellency- Mr Udom Emmanuel, and hosted to a world class concert with top celebrities and an energetic dance performance featuring 400 dancers. Some of the celebrities to grace the stage include Inyanya, Presh, Pasto Goody Goody, Ini Edo, Tha Suspekt, Ikpa Udoh, FadAbasi, Amaikah, Ice Kyd Banton amongst others.
Dakkada Initiative is a re-orientation campaign to ignite Moral Transformation and Spiritual Re-birth in Akwa Ibom People. It is the dubbed the celebration of the future of a people born great, and the 30, 000 capacity stadium is expected to be filled to the brim.
