As entries for the 2014 edition of the Gulder Ultimate Search (GUS) themed ‘The Mission’ pour in on the online registration portal, the traditional rulers in Aguleri Kingdoms in Anambra State, the host community for the 11th edition of the Ultimate Search, have welcomed the gesture extended to their community and equally pledged their unalloyed support.
The royal fathers expressed their joy and support for the show to be hosted on their soil, during courtesy visits to their palaces by the GUS Team to officially inform them of the choice of Aguleri as the host community for the GUS this year.
The Team’s first port of call was at the Ancient Obu-Gad Iduu, Eri Kingdom, EnugwuAguleri where Eze Chukwuemeka Eri, Ezeora the 34th and Eze Akajiofor Igbo, expressed joy at the news that Nigerian Breweries had chosen Aguleri as the host community for their famous reality TV programme.
“It is heart-warming for me that a popular brand like Gulder, manufactured by Nigerian Breweries has chosen to associate with Aguleri, the ancestral home of the Igbos. We are not only thankful to them, but also welcome this gesture wholeheartedly”, the monarch said.
He also went further to assure the GUS Team that the community will ensure they have a hitch free stay in Aguleri and pledged the support of the entire community in hosting the programme. He told the Team that after the first experience, the team will definitely want to come back to Aguleri for another edition.
He however appealed to Nigerian Breweries include their sons and daughters in the search to further give the community a chance of bringing the star prize to Aguleri.
On the security of the contestants and crew members, The Akajiofor Igbo said, “You have nothing to fear. We will communicate your presence and mission to every quarter of the kingdom. Our local vigilante will be there if you ever feel threatened”.
Afterwards the Team proceeded to the Idigo Palace where they were received by Eze Christopher NwabunwanneIdigo IV, the Ogalagidi and Igwe of Aguleri, and his Cabinet. Ogalagidi, as his people love to call him, thanked the GUS team for their visit and the good tiding they brought, saying it was a welcome gesture.
The Igwe was also full of kind words for Nigerian Breweries for choosing to host their youth oriented programme on their soil. He noted that youths are catalysts for advancement in any society.
He said, “I thank you, my brothers for your visit and I also thank Nigerian Breweries for extending the gesture to our community. In every society, youths are the catalysts for advancement and I really commend the Nigerian Breweries for coming up with such a youth empowerment initiative and for considering our community suitable enough to host it this year”.
Ogalagidi, who displayed familiarity with the GUS, noted with delight that the show which will be beamed on both terrestrial and satellite TV stations will, put the Aguleri community on global spotlight. He also commended Bob-Manuel Udokwu and Chidi Mokeme, for their dexterity in anchoring past editions of the show.
The monarch also remarked that the coming of the Gulder Ultimate Search to Aguleri this year is not an accident but part of God’s design to put the community in its rightful place. He then pledged their support for and full co-operation with the GUS Team. He also assured that the crew will have unhindered access to him during their stay in Aguleri.
Aguleri, a community in Anambra East LGA of Anambra State, was announced recently by Nigerian Breweries Plc., owners of the Gulder Ultimate Search, as the host community for the 11th edition.
The past editions of GUS have been hosted in different locations across the country including the Snake Island in Lagos, Obudu Cattle Ranch in Cross River, Omo Forest, J4, Ogun, theShere Hills in Jos, Omodo Forest of Aagba in Osun State, Awgu Hills of Enugu, the Kukuruku Hills, Egbetua Quarters, Akoko-Edo, and Usaka jungle in Akwa Ibom State.
The winner of this edition will go home with N10 million and a brand new SUV, the second and third place winners will get N3 million and N2.5 million respectively. To participate interested contestants should log on to www.gulderultimatesearch.tv before July 31 to register.
