VIDEO: Nicki Minaj's Ex-Boyfriend Safaree Samuels Opens Up: She Treated Me "Like an Employee, Instead of Her Man"

Nicki Minaj divulged her feelings about her ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuels on her album The Pinkprint, and now, he’s got the mic.

Samuels, who dated Minaj for 11 years, told Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club during an interview on Tuesday, Jan. 13, that the “Bed of Lies” singer treated him like an “employee."

"I walked away. I'm not going to say I broke up, but I'm the one who walked away,” Samuels explained of their now-highly publicized split. “I packed up my stuff and I left.”

While fans can try to decipher Minaj’s song lyrics to figure out her side of the story, Samuels is more blatant about what went wrong. "I just got to the point where the respect wasn't there," he explained. "Everyone around her works for her, you know? So it got to the point where it was like, I'm your man. I'm who you go to sleep with every night. I'm who you wake up with every morning. And it got to the point where I was being treated like an employee, instead of like her man."

Although Samuels engaged in a Twitter feud with the rapper following the release of her album, in which she raps about “contemplating overdosing” because of his alleged lies on track “Bed of Lies,” he said he’d never want to publicly diss the star.

"I would never do anything publicly to try to pull her down. Whatever happens between me and her one-on-one is what it is, that's personal. I would never put that out there,” Samuels said. "I could be out here telling a million stories and doing cornball s--t, but I'm not gonna do that and I never plan on doing that. I just think it's crazy for her to come out now and try to pull me down and try to say I'm corny.”

Minaj has already explained why she decided to air their dirty laundry on her tracks. During an interview with Rolling Stone she said: “One of my goals was to give people a glimpse into my personal life, because it's something I've kept very private. I had to learn to do something as simple as sleep alone. I struggled with 'Do I express these feelings?' And I decided there's no reason for me to hide. I'm a vulnerable woman, and I'm proud of that."
