FIFA U-20 World Cup: Iheanacho fires double warning shots to Brazil, others

Red-hot Kelechi Iheanacho yesterday underlined his readiness for the FIFA U-20 World Cup scheduled to kick off on Saturday in New Zealand with a brace in Manchester City U21’s 3-1defeat of their Manchester United counterparts, thus sending a serious warning signal to Brazil and other opponents of Nigeria at the upcoming junior World Cup.
The 2013 FIFA U-17 Most Valuable Player encapsulated his individual brilliance in the 55th minute when he turned his marker and clinically slotted the ball into the bottom corner of the net to put his side on level terms with their city archrivals.
Iheanacho who made Flying Eagles’ final cut to the junior World Cup in New Zealand without joining the team in Germany for the final preparation ahead of the tournament, completed his brace yesterday with his side’s third goal in the 80th minute.
It was another spectacular goal from the rising star as he curled the ball perfectly into the top corner of the goalpost.
The Manchester City starlet who is among the players to watch at the upcoming tournament in New Zealand is expected to join the Manu Garba-tutored Nigerian squad on Tuesday.
