FOOTBALL: OLISEH REVEALS HOW MUCH HE WANTS AS SALARY

Sunday Oliseh, newly appointed coach of the Super Eagles
Newly appointed coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh, has said that he wants the same salary as his predecessor, Stephen Keshi.
Oliseh, a former Nigeria international, has reportedly told officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that he is ready to accept the same N5 million (over $21,000), the same amount former coach, Keshi, earned.
The Nation reports with reference to africanFootball.com that the former Borrusia Dortmund star midfielder is due to fly into Abuja on Tuesday evening and later meet with the technical committee of the NFF led by Felix Anyansi-Agwu.
“Oliseh is ready to earn the same pay Keshi was on. This again shows he is ready to serve his fatherland and money is not what is driving him.
“This is another good sign with the decision to give him the job without much fanfare,” a top official of the federation was quoted to have said.
Oliseh, a former captain of the Super Eagles, was announced as Keshi’s replacement and will be handed a five-year contract.
His backroom staff will include a Dutch assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf as well as Ike Shorunmu, who will remain as goalkeeper trainer.
His first assignment with the team will be a 2017 African Nations Cup qualifier in Tanzania in September as well as lift the Nigerian side from its present spot on the Fifa rankings.
Meanwhile, Segun Odegbami, a former Nigerian star player, has expressed excitement over the appointment of Oliseh, as he believes in the 40-year-old’s intellectual capabilities.
