– Zlatan Ibrahimovic has agreed a one year deal with Manchester United
– Ibrahimovic will be Jose Mourinho’s first signing as United manager
– United could sign Jamie Vardy but opted against chasing a deal for the striker
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is closer than ever to joining a new club after sources revealed he has agreed a one-year contract with Manchester United.
United won the FA Cup but finished 5th under Louis Van Gaal with Jose Mourinho coming in to replace the Dutchman. If he comes, Zlatan will be Mourinho’s first signing since joining the club as manager with Sky Sports News HQ reporter Andy Burton saying the deal is close to completion and could even be finalised before Euro 2016.
Ibrahimoic is a free agent having spent the last four years in France with PSG and this season won a domestic treble. It was also revealed that United were aware of the possibility of signing Leicester forward Jamie Vardy, but decided not to make an offer because they do not want to block the path of Marcus Rashford by bringing in two new forwards. United believe they can sign Ibrahimovic and still offer Rashford a realistic chance at regular first-team football.
