That the congress condemns in very strong terms the sacking
of some resident Doctors under any guise during their industrial action
because it is ill-timed and signifies victimization and oppression of
these Medical and Dental Practitioners who are only agitating for their
fundamental human rights. This retrogressive action of the management of
the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH) is totally unacceptable.
Therefore, the management is urged to reverse the sack immediately for
any meaningful dialogue to take place.
That the management of the University of Uyo Teaching
Hospital (UUTH) takes every necessary step that is possible to pay all
the Medical and Dental Practitioners in the institution their full
salaries which have been denied them since 2014 without any further
delay as done in other hospitals across the country for justice,
fairness and equity, taking into cognizance the fact that other
categories of staff have been getting their full salaries.
That the leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association
(NMA) meets with management of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital
(UUTH) within the next 3days to resolve the issues leading to the strike
and report back to the State Executive Council(SEC) within the week.
That the congress also mandates the leadership of the
Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) to immediately enter into fruitful
discussions with the Akwa Ibom state government for the 15months salary
arrears and CONMESS arrears to be paid to her members in state
government employ.
That a 3-man Ad hoc committee be set up to interface with
the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly(AKHA) with regards to the passage
of the Akwa Ibom state Primary Healthcare Development Agency bill and
the sponsorship of the Akwa Ibom State Healthcare Waste Management
Agency bill.
That the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) thanks the
management of Ibom Multi-Specialty Hospital for hosting this quarterly
Ordinary General Meeting(OGM) and familiarization tour of the
facilities at Ibom Multi-Specialty Hospital and applauded the planned
collaboration with NMA to foster better healthcare delivery to the Akwa
Ibomites and Nigerians at large.
