Akon Live At Wembley Arena – Dance Afrique Summerfest 2015

Following its critically acclaimed debut concert in the UK at the renowned SSE Arena, Wembley in March 2015 which featured headline performances from P-Square, Flavour N’abania and Shatta Wale, Solution Media and Infotech are proud to be returning to the UK on Bank Holiday Carnival Weekend, August 28 2015, for Dance Afrique Summerfest, headlined by Pop icon and producer AKON, along with Nigerian rising star and MTV Africa Music Award winner Yemi Alade, and South African Pop duo Mafikizolo.
A veteran in the music industry, Akon first burst onto the scene in 2004 with his classic hit ‘Locked Up’, and has gone on to sell over 23 million singles and albums, with five World Music Awards, a Billboard Music award, an American Music award and five Grammy Award nominations, plus hit collaborations with Snoop Dogg, David Guetta and the late great Michael Jackson among others, over his decade long career.
Joining Akon at the SSE Arena, Wembley for Dance Afrique Summerfest is none other than recently crowned MTV Africa Music Award ‘Best Female Artist’, Yemi Alade. Best known for her breakthrough hit single ‘Johnny’ which has garnered over 23 million views on YouTube and led her to being nominated for both a MOBO Award in 2014 for ‘Best African Act’ and a BET Award for ‘Best International Act: Africa’ earlier this year, Yemi Alade is one of best female artist coming out of Nigeria in recent times.
Veteran South African Pop duo Mafikizolo will also be performing live at Dance Afrique Summerfest, alongside Akon and Yemi Alade. After a brief hiatus away from the music landscape, the duo of Nhlanhla Nciza and Theo Kgosinkwe returned in 2013 with their eighth studio album ‘Reunited’ and one of the biggest songs of their extensive career ‘Khona’, and went on to win the MTV Africa Music Award for ‘Best Group’ the following year, with ‘Khona’ crowned ‘Song of the Year’. The duo went on to be nominated for an MTV Europe Music Award and MOBO Award for ‘Best African Act’ in the same year.
BBC 1Xtra DJ, DJ Edu returns as the Dance Afrique Summerfest official DJ alongside the renowned DJ Unbeetable. Together, both DJs will be providing the latest and best party starters and dance floor fillers for the 12,000 strong revellers expected of an epic Dance Afrique concert experience. Hosted
