5 Things Fans Can Do With The End Of The European Football Season

– The 2015/2016 domestic season has come to a close with only the Champions League final left to play
– The 2016/2017 season will start in late September/early October which is some three months away
– There are three major summer tournaments for fans to be engaged with before the new season starts

With the end of the 2015/2016 European football season, fans will know it will be a while before domestic season returns. In England, Leicester won the Premier League, Manchester City the League Cup and Manchester United the FA Cup while Juventus won the Italian Serie A and Coppa Italia.

In Spain Barcelona won La Liga and the Copa Del Rey while PSG swept all before them in France like Bayern Munich in Germany who won the DFB Pokal and Bundesliga shield. But there is much that can be done before the beginning of the 2016/2017 season which promises to be intriguing. Below are some of the things you can do during the summer;

2. Watch EURO’s, Copa America, Olympics:
The summer of 2016 brings a lot of intrigue with international football. EURO 2016 will kick off on June 10 with the likes of Belgium, Spain, Germany and England seen as favorites by many. The 100th year anniversary of the Copa America will be played in the USA for the first time ever. Chile won the tournament last summer defeating Lionel Messi Argentina but the Barcelona is looking for revenge with the two teams place in the same group.


The Olympics rolls over after EURO’s and Copa America and this is a tournament which will make or break many players with the competition open to only U-23 players and three over aged players for each team.

4. Watchout for friendlies:
One fun thing about the summer is the continued presence of friendlies. Fans can see some of the matches that will most likely not be played during the season.

For example Leicester City will play in the Champions Cup which will involve the likes of Barcelona, AC Milan and Bayern Munich. Sorry Arsenal fans, you will attend the Emirates Cup, so no pre-season trophy.
