Frank Lampard Set To Become Chelsea Coach

– Guus Hiddink says Frank Lampard could return to Chelsea soon as a coach
– Lampard has been studying Chelsea coaches recently when he was injured
– The Englishman is the highest goal scorer in the history of the club Chelsea interim coach

Guus Hiddink says he sees a return to the club for former player and legend Frank Lampard when he retires.

Lampard who is currently playing for New York City in the MLS could retire at the end of the season after his time with the American club has been blighted with injury problems. Lampard is the highest scoring player in the history of Chelsea and won 13 trophies in the same amount of years he spent there as a player. Asked if Lampard could return to the club, Hiddink said Lampard had been treating himself at the club and been helping himself studying coaches.
He said: “I can see that. He was recently here when he was having his injury. He modestly asked if he could be treated here by our physios. I said of course as he was asking me.” Hiddink reflected on a discussion with Lampard where the ex-player offered to come in when the players had finished training to ease pressure on the coaching staff.
However, the Dutchman insisted he partake in the regular schedule as he has earned the privilege and can inspire young players by being around the training ground. “I said ‘no, you are one of this family’ and he loved to come in the day. If those players don’t have that affection to the club then the don’t even come back for the treatment. “Young players can learn a lot, not every day of course, but they can accelerate their career by having eyes on the career of those big guys.” Chelsea finished the season in eighth place after winning the Premier League title last season.
