NPFL Week 19 Results: Akwa Utd, Enyimba, Warri Wolves Record Victories

– The Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) has entered the mid-season with interesting games played on Sunday May 22
– For the very first time this season, Sunshine Stars recorded their first away win of the season by beating Abia Warriors

Lobi Stars 1-0 Rivers United

Sunday Akleche was the hero for Lobi Stars on Sunday in Katsina Ala as his 68th minute penalty gave the hosts the maximum points. Rivers United would have themselves to blame not to have gotten a draw in this duel as Chinozo Okokwo blasted away a penalty at the death for the visitors.
 
Wikki Tourists 3-0 Ikorodu United 
Wikki Tourists’ invisibility home performance this season continued on Sunday as they annihilated newcomers, Ikorodu United 3-0 in a parked stadium in Bauchi.
Hamzat Tiya opened the scoring for the hosts in the 19th minute before two goals in the 24th and 72nd minute from Saidu Abdulahi gave Wikki Tourists the three points.


Warri Wolves 3-1 Elkanemi Warriors 
Warri Wolves have changed their style of play this season, and the style is really giving them good result as they taught Elkanemi Warriors some football lesson on Sunday in Warri.
Kelvin Itoya scored in the 71st and 83rd minute, before Sikiru Alimi secured the victory for Wolves when he netted the third goal in the 88th minute.


Abia Warriors 1-2 Sunshine Stars
Against all odds, Sunshine Stars on Sunday recorded their first away victory of the season beating Abia Warriors 2-1 in Umuhia. No one would have thought that the Warriors would lose this game as they have never lost a point at home this season, but the 90th minute goal by Dele Olorundare gave the visitors the win. Sunshine Stars even broke the deadlock in the 45th minute through Rasak Adegbite, but Eric Nwaimo restored parity for the hosts in the 78th minute.



IfeanyiUbah 2-0 Niger Tornadoes
Tornadoes woeful performance away from home this season continued as they were beaten 2-o by FC IfeanyiUbah in Nnewi. Former Sunshine Stars’ player, Tamen Medrano opened the scoring for the hosts in the 61st minute, and it was when Tornadoes were striving to get the equaliser that Brazilian Nico Dao netted the second goal for IfeanyiUbah in the 90th minute.



Enyimba 1-0 Nasarawa United
Nasarawa United thrilled the fans in Aba as the produced fine performance, but it was left back, Chima Akas that broke their heart when he scored the goal that gave Enyimba the win in the 31st minute.



Plateau United 0-0 Kano Pillars
This northern derby failed to produce any goal as four time champions, Kano Pillars were able to get to point in Jos. Plateau United had so many chances which would have resulted to goals for them, and by now they should be blaming themselves not to have won the encounter.



Enugu Rangers 0-0 Heartland
Heartland would have their goalkeeper to thank in this match, as his superb saves denied the Flying Antelopes from getting the maximum points in this match.



Akwa United 2-0 3SC
Ubong Friday and Cyril Olisima were the scorers for Akwa United as they inflicted a 2 nil defeat on 3SC.
