#EURO2016: Poland Hold Germany As Ukraine Crash Out

– Poland force the Germans to a goalless draw
– England have won recorded their first win of the tournament

Germany were surprisingly held to a 0-0 draw by Poland in their second game of the European championships as both teams could not get the better part of eachother.

Chances were few and far between in the first half but both teams produced decent chances in the second half of the match where Milik missed two clear-cut chances for Poland and Lucas Fabiansky made a couple of saves to keep Poland in the match. Both teams are tied with four points but Germany tops the group with a superior goal difference as they go into their final game against Northern Ireland while Poland square it up against Ukraine.

However, Gareth McAuley and Niall McGinn scored Northern Ireland’s goal in a European Championship and boosted their chances of progressing through to the knock out phase of the competition.

McAuley got the decisive header from a set-piece to put The Green and White Army ahead four minutes into the second half while McGinn sealed a famous win for Micheal O’Neil’s men. However, Ukraine are now technically out of the tournament without a point as they face Poland which could possibly be their last match of Euro 2016 while a draw in perspective for the Northern Irish side against Germany will be enough for qualification.
