Five Matches You Must Not Miss This Weekend

Matches will be played in different countries across Europe, Africa and the final round of football matches at the Rio 2016 Olympics in Brazil. 

The English Premier League resumes with second round of matches while the Spanish La Liga will kick off their campaign for the 2016/2017 season. The Nigeria Professional Football League is also at its climax stage as teams jostle for position that will qualify them for a continental ticket and avoid the drop. Here are the five matches you should not miss this weekend


1. Nigeria vs Honduras: The Dream Team will be looking to shake off a disappointing semi final loss to Germany as they play for national pride against their Northern American opponents.




The Bronze medal is as stake for Mikel and his teammates as injured Etebo and suspended Azubike are expected to return for the cracker against Honduras. 
 
2. Brazil vs Germany: A repeat of the 2002 Korea/Japan final where Brazil won their fifth World Cup trophy at Germany’s expense, but both teams will be meeting at the Rio Olympic finals at U-23 level.

  What will make this fixture intriguing is the fact that both teams lost their opening day matches to Hull City and Liverpool respectively, although Arsenal won both legs in last season’s fixture. 
 
 
4. Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid: The reigning European Champions will be playing their La Liga season opener away to Real Sociedad with Cristianio Ronaldo absent because of fitness reasons.

However, Los Blancos will be having Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Pepe back in the squad after the grueling Euro 2016 campaign. 
 
 
5. Abia Warriors vs Enyimba: Another oriental derby will be underway when two close neighbours clash in a week 31 match of the Nigerian Professional Football League.

Having two games at hand, Enyimba still have the league title within their reach with 45 points but Abia Warriors lies in 15th position and will be fighting for survival in the league.
