Japanese surgeon Katsuya Takasu has fulfilled his promise to give the U-23 Dream Team cash rewards for their efforts at the Rio Olympics.
Team coach Samson Siasia and captain Mikel Obi were handed $200,000 and $190,000 respectively. Nigeria defeated Honduras 3-2 to win bronze at the Olympics.
There were fears that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had hijacked the cash rewards but a sports analyst and former goalkeeper for the Super Eagles Idah Peterside who revealed the information later announced that Takasu had rewarded the players.
