Barcelona began their campaign as defending champions with a 6-2 spanking of Real Betis in a La Liga season opener at the Nou Camp.
The Baulgrana were flying after just six minutes when in form Arda Turan got on the score sheet for the champions but Ruben Castro gave an immediate response with a perfectly executed free kick.
Lionel Messi unleashed a thunderous drive into the far corner before Luis Suarez added another before half time.
The onslaught continued as Messi got his brace from a shot outside the 18-yard box before setting up the Uruguayan teammate for an easy tap-in for Barca’s fifth goal of the match.

Barcelona were not done yet as Suarez went on free kick duties to score from 25-yards out however Castro had unfinished business as he scored a consolation for Betis. It ended 6-2.
